This 9-day journey unfolds between two of Southern Italy’s most captivating regions, where dramatic coastlines meet whitewashed villages and centuries-old traditions shape daily life.  From the panoramic terraces of Sorrento and the timeless beauty of the Amalfi Coast to the sunlit towns and rural masserie of Puglia, the itinerary blends culture, seaside charm, hands-on culinary experiences, and authentic local encounters. Carefully paced and rich in atmosphere, this tour invites participants to experience Southern Italy not only as visitors, but as privileged guests immersed in its flavors, landscapes, and luminous Mediterranean spirit.

Day One – Arrival in Sorrento and Welcome Dinner

Participants arrive independently in Sorrento and check in at the 4-star hotel. In the early evening, the group meets the Tour Leader before setting out to explore Sorrento’s historic center, where narrow lanes, artisan workshops, and sweeping views over the Bay of Naples create an immediate sense of place (2 hours walking tour). 

The evening continues with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, introducing the flavors of Campania in a convivial setting.

Day Two – Naples and Authentic Pizza Experience

After breakfast, the group travels to Naples, with Mount Vesuvius rising dramatically over the bay (approximately 1 hour drive). A guided walking tour reveals the city’s vibrant historic center, where Baroque churches, bustling piazzas, and everyday life unfold in a lively mosaic of sound and color (3 hours walking tour). 

Midway through the visit, participants pause for a traditional Neapolitan pizza lunch in a historic pizzeria, savoring one of Italy’s most iconic culinary traditions. In the early afternoon, return to Sorrento (approximately 1 hour drive). The evening is at leisure.

Day Three – Amalfi Coast Day Experience

The day unfolds along the legendary Amalfi Coast, where cliffs plunge into turquoise waters and pastel villages cling to the hillsides (full-day coastal excursion). In Ravello, participants enjoy time to explore elegant gardens and panoramic terraces overlooking the sea. 

The journey continues to Amalfi, where lunch is served locally before discovering the historic center and the Cathedral of Saint Andrew during a guided visit (guided town visit). Return to Sorrento in the late afternoon (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive). The evening is free.

Day Four – Transfer to Puglia with Stop in Bari

After check-out, the group travels toward Puglia, watching the landscape gradually shift from coastal scenery to open countryside (approximately 4 hours drive including stop). In Bari, a guided walk through the atmospheric Bari Vecchia reveals stone alleyways, the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, and layers of maritime history (2 hours walking tour).

Lunch is served locally before continuing to Accommodation. Upon arrival and hotel check-in, the evening remains at leisure.

Day Five – Ostuni and Alberobello

The day begins in Ostuni, the “White City,” where sunlight reflects off whitewashed walls and narrow streets open onto sweeping Adriatic views (approximately 1 hour drive). A guided walk explores its historic heart (2 hours walking tour). Lunch is enjoyed at a traditional masseria, celebrating Apulian countryside cuisine. 

In the afternoon, the journey continues to Alberobello (approximately 45 minutes drive), where a guided visit reveals the story and symbolism of the iconic trulli houses, including entrance to the Trullo Sovrano (guided visit). Return to Polignano a Mare in the late afternoon (approximately 45 minutes drive). Dinner is not included.

Day Six – Masseria Cooking Class and Monopoli

Traveling into the Apulian countryside (approximately 30 minutes drive), participants reach a traditional masseria for a hands-on cooking class led by local hosts (cooking class experience). Seasonal ingredients and time-honored recipes come together in a shared lunch enjoyed in a relaxed rural atmosphere. 

In the afternoon, the group continues to Monopoli (approximately 30 minutes drive), where free time allows for a stroll through the harbor, historic lanes, or along the sea. Return to Polignano a Mare (approximately 30 minutes drive). The evening is free.

Day Seven – Return to Sorrento with Olive Oil Experience

After check-out, the journey returns toward Campania (approximately 4 hours drive including stop). Along the way, participants visit an olive oil estate for a guided tasting, discovering production methods and the distinctive aromas of high-quality extra virgin olive oil (olive oil tasting experience). 

Lunch highlights regional ingredients before continuing to Sorrento. Upon arrival and check-in, the evening is at leisure.

Day Eight – Pompeii and Countryside Farmhouse

The morning is dedicated to Pompeii, where a licensed guide leads participants through remarkably preserved streets, villas, and temples, bringing ancient Roman life vividly into focus (2 hours guided archaeological visit). 

Later, the group reaches a traditional farmhouse in the Sorrento countryside for a relaxed lunch among lemon groves and rural scenery (farmhouse lunch experience). Return to Sorrento in the early afternoon (approximately 30 minutes drive). The remainder of the day and evening are at leisure.

Day Nine – Departure

After breakfast, participants check out and depart independently, concluding the tour.

Terms and Cancellation policies

Art. 1 – Terms and Regulations:

  • Group capacity:  min 14 pax – max 28 people per group
  • If the group tour does not reach the minimum capacity of participants by 3 months (90 days) prior the start of the tour, it will be cancelled.
  • In case of the cancellation by the great italy tour, the great italy tour will return the amount paid by the customer via nexi payment platform.

 

Art. 2 – Cancellation policy on behalf of the client:

  • Once customers pay the amount of a day tour, in the case of the eventual withdrawal on behalf of the client for any reason before departure, the client will be charged the following percentage of the participating shares, calculated taking into consideration how many days before departure he/she has requested the cancellation. From the day following the booking until:

 
– 30 days pre-departure: 30% penalty : in this case Great Italy Tour will refund the 70% of the full amount paid.

– 29-0 days pre-departure 100% penalty.

  • By confirming the reservation and making the payment, you accept the regulation and the itinerary as previously described.

 

Art. 3 – Tour variations

  • The service providers (hotels, agritourisms, restaurants, chefs, etc.) At times mentioned in our tour itineraries are subject to change. In this unlikely event they will only be substituted by others of equal or better quality in order to avoid affecting the content of our services.
  • The itineraries are subject to changes. Suggested activities may have to be substituted as a result of natural disasters, sudden atmospheric changes, temporary closures, striking or any other problems for which the tour organizers may not be held accountable. Any alterations made will be done so in order to improve the service on offer and will always be of equal commercial value.
