Northern Italy Icons: Milan, Verona & Venice

After breakfast, the group departs Milan for Verona, pausing along the shimmering shores of Lake Garda in Sirmione (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive). The medieval lanes of the peninsula lead toward the Scaligero Castle, where ancient walls frame sweeping views across the water and the quiet harbor below (guided town visit). 

Lunch is enjoyed in a lakeside setting before continuing toward Verona (approximately 45 minutes drive). After check-in, dinner in the historic center introduces the city’s intimate charm, where soft evening light settles over lively piazzas.

The morning unfolds among Verona’s most iconic landmarks: the Roman Arena, Piazza delle Erbe, and Juliet’s House emerge as a local guide reveals the city’s layered history of empire, romance, and artistry (2 hours walking tour). 

Lunch is served locally, after which the afternoon opens into possibility – perhaps a hidden courtyard, a quiet church, or a leisurely espresso beneath arcaded streets. The evening is left free to savor Verona’s gentle rhythm.

The journey to Venice begins across the Veneto plains (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive). Arrival is by water, where palaces and reflections glide past in a first unforgettable approach to the floating city (water transfer experience). 

A guided walk reveals St. Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace exterior, and the storied Rialto area, weaving through narrow calli that seem suspended between sea and sky (2 hours walking tour). 

In February, Carnival transforms Venice into a living stage of masks, velvet capes, and whispered intrigue. Lunch is at leisure before returning to Verona in the late afternoon (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive). The evening is free.

Rolling vineyards and sunlit hills accompany the short drive into Valpolicella (approximately 30 minutes drive). At a local estate, centuries-old winemaking traditions come to life as participants discover the unique process behind Amarone, followed by a tasting that reveals the wine’s depth and character (winery visit and tasting experience). 

Lunch is served in a regional setting before returning to Verona, where the remainder of the day invites personal exploration

An early departure carries the group northward as the landscape gradually transforms into Alpine majesty (approximately 3 hours drive). Upon arrival in the mountain area, participants meet a licensed local guide who will accompany the group throughout the entire day, providing in-depth insight into the region’s history, culture, and natural environment (full-day guided experience). 

Snow-dusted peaks and dramatic valleys frame the ascent by cable car, opening onto panoramic views that feel vast and exhilarating.

Lunch is enjoyed in a mountain hut, surrounded by crisp air and towering ridgelines. Later, the charming village of Ortisei offers time to stroll among wooden chalets and artisan boutiques (village visit). The return to Verona follows in the early evening (approximately 3 hours drive). Dinner is not included.

After check-out, the journey back toward Milan includes a stop in Bergamo (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive). Within the walled Città Alta, cobbled streets wind past Renaissance façades and quiet squares as a guided walk reveals Piazza Vecchia, Santa Maria Maggiore, and sweeping views across Lombardy (2 hours walking tour). 

Lunch is served locally before continuing to Milan (approximately 1 hour drive). The evening remains open, allowing time to absorb the city’s elegant energy once more.

The final full day begins among Milan’s defining landmarks, where the Duomo’s marble spires, the Galleria’s glass canopy, and the Sforza Castle’s solid presence reflect the city’s blend of grandeur and contemporary style (3 hours walking tour). 

Lunch and the afternoon are left free: an opportunity for museums, boutique-lined streets, or a final unhurried stroll beneath stately façades. The evening is at leisure.

After breakfast, participants check out and depart independently, carrying with them the refined elegance of Northern Italy, from Alpine horizons to Venetian reflections and the enduring romance of Verona.

Art. 1 – Terms and Regulations:

• Group capacity:  min 14 pax – max 28 people per group
• If the group tour does not reach the minimum capacity of participants by 3 months (90 days) prior the start of the tour, it will be cancelled.
• In case of the cancellation by the great italy tour, the great italy tour will return the amount paid by the customer via nexi payment platform.

Art. 2 – Cancellation policy on behalf of the client:

• Once customers pay the amount of a day tour, in the case of the eventual withdrawal on behalf of the client for any reason before departure, the client will be charged the following percentage of the participating shares, calculated taking into consideration how many days before departure he/she has requested the cancellation. From the day following the booking until:

 
– 30 days pre-departure: 40% penalty : in this case Great Italy Tour will refund the 60% of the full amount paid.

– 29-0 days pre-departure 100% penalty.

• By confirming the reservation and making the payment, you accept the regulation and the itinerary as previously described.

Art. 3 – Tour variations

• The service providers (hotels, agritourisms, restaurants, chefs, etc.) At times mentioned in our tour itineraries are subject to change. In this unlikely event they will only be substituted by others of equal or better quality in order to avoid affecting the content of our services.
• The itineraries are subject to changes. Suggested activities may have to be substituted as a result of natural disasters, sudden atmospheric changes, temporary closures, striking or any other problems for which the tour organizers may not be held accountable. Any alterations made will be done so in order to improve the service on offer and will always be of equal commercial value.
