The day begins with a departure from Rome, traveling through the rolling Italian countryside toward Civita di Bagnoregio (approximately 2 hours drive).

Upon arrival, participants step into a village perched atop a volcanic plateau, often called “the dying town” for its fragile, suspended-in-time beauty. Free time allows for independent exploration: participants wander narrow cobblestone streets, pause at scenic overlooks above the valley, and admire centuries-old architecture in an atmosphere that feels untouched by time (1 hour and 15 minutes).
After the visit to Civita di Bagnoregio, the journey continues to Orvieto (approximately 40 minutes drive).
Once in Orvieto, participants have free time for a leisurely lunch, with an opportunity to savor local Umbrian cuisine, relax, and enjoy views over the surrounding hills (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes – lunch not included).
Following lunch, participants join a guided walking tour of Orvieto. The visit explores winding streets and hidden squares, revealing elegant medieval and Renaissance architecture and the town’s layered history. The tour includes a highlight visit to Orvieto Cathedral, admired for its Italian Gothic design, intricate façade, and notable frescoes (2 hours walking tour).
At the conclusion of the guided tour, the return journey to Rome begins (approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes drive).
